Upcoming Business Meeting and Q & A with Elders

Our annual church business meeting will be held on Sunday, May 19, at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Agenda and proposed 2024-2025 Financial Ministry Plan, along with other supporting information, is available near the Connections Desk in the Gathering Hall.  There is one remaining Q & A session next week in the Fellowship Hall (Thursday, May 16, 6:00 pm) for you to ask questions of the elders on the revisions to the Constitution and Bylaws and the proposed 2024-2025 budget.

New Member Class May 12

A two-session Member Class (required part of the membership process at Christ Baptist Church) is held on the 1st and 2nd Sunday of each month at 9:00 am in Room A-03. If you are interested in membership at Christ Baptist, please go forward at the end of the worship service to speak with a deacon, share your salvation story and complete the membership application card. After attending the two member classes and being baptized by immersion (if not already a part of your Christian experience), a signed Membership Covenant presented on a quarterly Acts 2 Sunday will complete the process of membership. You are also welcome to attend the member classes if you would just like to learn more about Christ Baptist Church.

New Young Adult Life Group

We are starting a new Young Adult Life Group on Sundays during the 9:00 hour for young professionals, singles and couples 20-40 years old. Dan and Melody Doster will be leading this participatory/discussion class on the book of Proverbs in Room D-03, beginning May 19, 2024.

The Dosters have been members of Christ Baptist Church for over 9 years. They have been married for 40 years, have 3 married children (all Christ-believers) and 6 grandchildren. Dan has an undergraduate degree in Religion from Wabash College, an MA from Yale Divinity School focused on the New Testament, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Between his graduate school programs, he served as a pastor for a short time. At Christ Baptist, he has served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and led small groups. He recently completed 18 years of BSF and served as an Online Trainer and group leader. His business career had 3 major phases: business leadership, business consulting, and entrepreneurship. He is an author and podcaster and enjoys mentoring over two dozen 20–30-year-olds (mostly men) by phone and Zoom.

Melody graduated from Meredith College and earned an MA from the University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music in vocal performance. She sings in the worship choir and plays handbells, serves as a Stephen Minister, and is currently on the music ministry search team. She was in BSF for 15 years and Saltshakers for 10 years, serving as a group leader.

Missions Prayer Focus - Refugee Hope Partners

www.refugeehopepartners.org

The world coming to us, with more than 1700 refugee families in the Raleigh area.

Praise God for the successful 5K run/walk held last Saturday, May 4, with more than 400 runners/walkers. Thank God for the rich fellowship that took place among believers who participated as runners or volunteers. Pray that the interaction and gospel conversations that took place after the race would bear fruit in the lives of unbelievers who participated. Pray for the refugee families that are touched by this ministry: students that receive homework help, parents who receive English language classes, and other help such as filling out forms and transportation.
